Solita Films is based in Madrid and has been producing features and short films for more than 10 years now. In Solita Films we see international coproduction not only as a means for funding films but also, and above all, as a mutually profitable experience.
Our first international coproduction “El despertar de las hormigas” was made in 2019. It was a co-production with Costa Rica that premiered at Berlinale Forum competition becoming the first Central American film to receive a Spanish Academy Award nomination for Best Iberoamerican Film.
We have two feature films currently in postproduction, the co-production with Puerto Rico “La Pecera”, directed by Glorimar Marrero, and the creative documentary “Hija del Volcán”, directed by Jenifer de la Rosa, in co-production with Mexico. Our goal in Solita Films is to produce and co-produce high quality art house films intended for worldwide audience and we’re specifically interested in author driven genre films.
We are now developing a number of projects including the slow burning thriller “Líbranos del mal”; the claustrophobic and paranoid horror film called “Waka Waka” and the fantasy young adult drama “Alma and the seven monsters”.

We want to give continuity to our first co-production with Latin America with the feature film “The Awakening of the Ants”. Currently, we are producing a film called “La Pecera” in co-production with Puerto Rico as minority co-producers, a documentary film in co-productions with Mexico called “Hija del Volcán” and we are working on pre-production of two filsm with Argentina, one as main producers called “Waka Waka” and as minority co-producers the film called “Alemania”. We are also working on “Marejada” a feature film in co-production with México and Colombia. For Solita Films it is very important to be a priority option for Latin American productions.
Solita Films intends to produce content aimed at a young audience with the intention of addressing issues that concern them, without paternalism and from their point of view. The first project we are developing is the adaptation of the novel “A Song from Far Away”, by A. F. Harrold, in co-production with La Zona.
We will make every effort to fulfill our main goal: to make films that combine the director’s unique vision, compelling stories and themes, while providing the right production support to express his or her highest ambitions.
SOLITA FILMS stands for independence and is committed to following authors with energy, dedication and determination.
SOLITA FILMS sees international co-production not only as a means of financing films, but also, and above all, as a mutually profitable experience.
