2022 / 80′ / JENIFER DE LA ROSA
23,000 people died after the eruption of Nevado del Ruiz in Colombia. Jennifer was only one week old. She survived and was adopted in Spain. 30 years later, she decides to reveal the truth about her origins, hidden under the institutional mud of the tragedy.
«I’ve always felt a disconnection between who I am and how I look. My decision to create “ Hija del Volcán” was born in 2016, and since then I have not stopped researching: contacting adoptees, adoptive families and biological families, specialists, associations, NGOs, foundations, activists, institutions and administrations from all over the world to be able to know the multiple edges of international adoption between Colombia and the world. It is my first feature film and it is the story of my life, of, an adopted woman, forced migrant, racialized, who has grown up in a plural and heterogeneous society, but who felt invisible from her early childhood. This is why I find myself with the responsibility of telling my story». Jennifer de la Rosa [Director]
